Haute Hump Day - Goofing Off in Cream at the Yellow Building

One of the best parts of doing weekly outfit portraits and self-portraits has been the adventure of location scouting.  I'm so irreparably in love with my own neighborhood (the "Dogpatch), that I can't seem to get away from it.  Todays pictures were taken at the historic "Yellow Building," a 170-year-old former horse stable, which now houses one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants, Piccino, along with a Blue Bottle Coffee Cafe, DIG wine bar, and clothing boutique, Modern Appealing Clothing.  As for the outfit, I'm back to my dark jeans, heels, and upgraded "t-shirt".  I have a major writing deadline this Friday, so comfort is key!

Hrmmm.... should I have brought a sweater??
Peekaboo!
Favorite necklace.  Thanks Hanna!
I can't decide whether this outfit needs a pop of color (if so, what, where, and how?!), or if I should just own the soft neutrals look.  Either way, I wish I'd brought a sweater... its was cold!!

Thoughts?

  1. I was hoping the cream was in reference to ice cream! Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous is the best in the city! :)

  2. I wouldn't add anything to this outfit! It's lovely as it is. The shirt has so much interest already, color would just be too much.

    1. Thats what I thought too! Sometimes instead of a "pop" of color, what I really want is the calmness that comes from soft neutrals.

  4. I love the tone-on-tone look of the outfit, your hair color and the venue but you might consider adding a colorful bangle bracelet for fun! Just wondering - do you miss the challenge of avoiding mirrors, now that the year is over?

    1. The bracelet idea is a great one!

Well, I don't miss the CHALLENGE of avoiding mirrors, but I do miss the days when it wasn't a challenge at all and I just felt calm and undistracted by my looks. That's a wonderful feeling!

    1. Thanks Katie! Yes, I imagine that MIchael has to deal with my "split-personalities" as well. He hasn't complained so far (well, except when he comes home to "the bitch"!)

  6. Pops of color are always fun....but sometimes leaving it out is just as good. Throw a great scarf or colorful necklace in your bag and change it up half way thru the day and see what response you get. Could be fun to see how many people notice the subtle change.

  7. Oooh, that's a fun idea. I wonder if it would be like makeup, i.e., nobody would even notice?

  8. Super cute -- especially the shirt. Maybe a colorful bag? I'm a Kate Spade fanatic -- if you sign up for the email list they include you in mailings for sample sales. Whoever is taking your photos is doing a great job.

  9. Also, this goes paying little heed to whether you are searching for a month to month rental term on a vehicle or notwithstanding anything up to an a few year lease. Also, paying little respect to what sort of vehicle you are hoping to rent, whether it is an auto, truck, SUV or van, you will make sure to discover what you are searching for in their huge armada of stock. 12. I am such a huge fan of the Percy Jackson books and unlike most people I really liked the films and am waiting for the Percy Jackson 3 to be made. It’s sad that Logan Lerman won't be able to return because obviously he's a grown man now. But I'm looking forward to a TV show too. After all this is the golden age of television and hope you’d do a good job with the material at hand. Percy Jackson 3 Cast
